Dubai International Racing Carnival Race Highlights Meydan Racecourse 19th February 2010

RACE 1
A good win in the Group 2 Bani Yas over 1200m for the Doug Watson trained Quaolina as he beat Palapal by 3 3/4 lengths under Richard Hills, a fifth career win for the mare and she has won over further as well so any trip around could suit her. Unlucky tag goes to Jinad whose season has been brilliant but he was looking in with a chance until hanging badly right acoss the track despite allthe efforts of Jockey Richard Mullen to finish 3rd.

RACE 2
Double for Doug Watson as Green Coast comes good after some good promising previous outings at Meydan, Tadhg O'Shea had Green Coast well positioned on the outside and missed the trouble inside which resulted in a rough race. He was chased by Silverside and Julien Grosjean but was never in danger of being beaten, Al Khaleej was 3rd under Ted Durcan

Drunken Sailor follows up his victory on the opening night at Meydan with another impressive run for trainer Luca Cumani, running off a 7lb higher mark Kieren Fallon produced him at the right time to win the race from the consistent King Of Rome just half a length back, Northern Glory was close up in third pace. Kieren suffered a 1000 AED fine using the whip wrongly

RACE 4
Global City completes a three timer, twice now at Meydan and before at Lingfield in the UK. Trained by Saeed bin Suroor and yet another winner for the Godolphin stables, Frankie Dettori in hot form was the winning jockey and they won the sprint in good time from Montpeller and Jaasoos

RACE 5
Al Shemali strikes and defeats the highly fancied Firebet from Godolphin, trained by Ali Rashid Al Raihe Al Shemaliran only 5th to Pan River last time out but stepped up to 2000m seemed to suit him well. Royston Ffrench rode a superb race to win by a neck and close in 3rd was Naval Officer, there was not much betwwen the first three home in a brilliant race

RACE 6
Godolphin were forced to switch Frankie Dettori on to Skysurfers after West Side Bernie was a withdrawal, but that did not make any difference as Skysurfers destroyed the field with an impressive display in only his second run in public. His first was a 10 length victory in the UK and this was a good follow up defeating Eagle Mountain with something in hand, it will be interesting to see now where Godolphin aim their latest star who laned the double for Saeed bin Suroor, Godolphin and Frankie Dettori

RACE 7
Herman Brown has his first Carnival winner with the in form Bankable who followed up a UK win at Sandown in September, a classic finish to the Group 2 Al Fahidi Fort with Bankable short heading Imbongi and Ibn Battuta whose form this season has been brilliant back another head in 3rd place. Ryan Moore timed the finish to perfection but neither Ryan or Chraistophe Soumillon was sure who had claimed the victory

RACE 8
A wonderful treble for Doug Watson with Roman's Run winning in his first attempt at Meydan Racecourse, he defeated Don Velez by half a length with the favourite Roman Republic only in 3rd place. Tadhg O'Shea celebrates his personal double on the night which keeps well on course in the battle for the Jockeys Championship with Royston Ffrench
