Gulf News Makes Return Visit to Meydan Racecourse

Six-race Thoroughbred Card Worth AED875,000

Gulf News will make a welcome return to Meydan Racecourse this Thursday, November 19 for the second meeting of the new term.

A long-term Meydan Pillar Partner, Gulf News has been associated with horse racing since the early days of racing under rules in the UAE and was one of the sponsors at the first Dubai World Cup in 1996.

Thursday’s card features six Thoroughbred races worth a combined total of AED875,000 and all held on Meydan’s dirt track. Two races on the night are worth AED165,000, the first held over a mile and the second a sprint over 1200m.

“We are delighted to sponsor one of the early race meets of the season. It looks to be a very exciting card with all the races bearing the names of our products,” said Rajeev Khanna, Commercial Director of Al Nisr Group.

“It is a privilege to be associated as Pillar Partner with Meydan and we are looking forward to an exciting racing season, culminating with the Dubai World Cup in March.”

Malih Al Basti, Chairman of Meydan Racing Committee, said: “Gulf News is an appreciated long-term partner of Dubai Racing Club and Meydan Group. The newspaper has been an important part of the development and history of racing in Dubai.

The support of our Racing at Meydan season and the Dubai World Cup Carnival is invaluable and Gulf News also serves as sponsor of Dubai World Cup day’s highly-regarded Group 1 Dubai Golden Shaheen, part of the renowned Global Sprint Challenge.

“The newspaper is an integral part of the UAE community and Gulf News has shown support not only for Dubai but for the continued development of horse racing in the country.”
