IPIC Empowers Dubai World Cup Carnival Meeting

Nad Al Sheba Trophy G3 is the Highlight of the Race Card

The International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), a Meydan Pillar Partner, pays its second visit to the racecourse for this season on Saturday, February 28, 2015.

The lucrative seven-race programme that offers prizemoney of over US$1million will be empowered by IPIC that also puts its name behind the featured Nad Al Sheba Trophy, an exciting Group 3 contest that will be held at 2810m on the turf. Last year Cavalryman won the event en route to a hard fought runner up performance in the Dubai Gold Cup on Dubai World Cup night.

In addition to the Dubai World Cup Carnival programme on Satuday, IPIC will also return to Meydan on Dubai World Cup day, Saturday March 28. It will mark the first time in Dubai World Cup history that two of the prestigious stakes on the programme are empowered by IPIC, the $1m Dubai Kahayla Classic for Purebred Arabians and the highly contested $1m Al Quoz Sprint. The Dubai Kahayla Classic now serves as one of only three one million dollar or above stakes races held in the world for Purebred Arabians.

His Excellency, Khadem Al Qubaisi, Managing Director of IPIC said: “Under the guidance of our Chairman, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nayhan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Minister of Presidential Affairs, IPIC is proud to play its role as a catalyst in empowering Emirati talent in horse racing.”

We look forward to the 20th renewal of the Dubai World Cup on March 28th, when IPIC will support two of the nine featured races, a first for any sponsor. In front of a packed local crowd and a global TV audience, Purebred Arabians will take centre stage in the IPIC sponsored Dubai Kahayla Classic, whilst later in the day the IPIC sponsored Al Quoz Sprint will showcase the world’s fastest Thoroughbreds over 1000m.”

Meydan Board Member and Chairman of the Meydan Racing Committee, Malih Al Basti said: “In such a short time, IPIC has become such a significant part of our racing and equine sports at Meydan. They made history this year as they became the first company to empower two races on Dubai World Cup day. It is a pleasure to welcome IPIC to Meydan Racecourse for our race meetings, their support of racing’s biggest day, the Dubai World Cup and their commitment to our endurance events held at Dubai International Endurance City.”

Established by Emiri decree in 1984, IPIC is a long-term investor in overseas energy and energy-related assets and undertakes strategic projects on behalf of its shareholder the Government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
