The Andrew Balding trained Intransigent is carrying top weight but with Jamie Spencer in the saddle he could do well in the opening sprint handicap at Meydan, his win ratio is not high but he can stay over 1400m as he did when winning at Haydock in September.

He stepped up to the Group 3 John Guest Benbough Stakes at Ascot finishing eighth but had Mike De Kock`s Kavanagh behind him who runs in the Group 2 Al Fahidi Fort later on the card, so this step down in class gives him a chance although he has a difficult draw in stall 13.

The horse trained by Mike De Kock and drawn in stall 2 is Merhee and should be a popular choice with racegoers, he is a lightly raced horse but has won a Grade 2 at Greyville in South Africa and with Christophe Soumillon riding this could be the answer for race one.
