Knife slices through Sharjah feature

Sharjah`s first meeting of the 2010/11 season was a seven race card with two Thoroughbred races and five for Purebred Arabians, including the featured 1700m conditions race.‬‬‪‪

That was won by Knife who made virtually all under Jesus Rosales to the delight of trainer Tony Manuel who said: "That was a really good effort and vindicates our decision to run here in a race, on ratings, he had little chance of winning. He was very gutsy when challenged and is a tough horse who has not had that much racing."‬‬‪‪

The preceding Thoroughbred handicap, also over 1700m, saw Skycruiser finally lose his maiden tag at the 17th attempt.

Trained by Satish Seemar, the five year old had plenty of placed efforts to his name but had failed to get his head in front.

However, under apprentice Harry Bentley, he rectified that to the delight of his young jockey who said: "He really quickened nicely when I asked him and certainly handles this surface. Hopefully that will do his confidence a lot of good. I am very grateful to Mr Seemar for this opportunity and it ha started really well."‬‬‪‪

The other Thoroughbred race was a 1200m maiden and Eduardo Martins saddled his first UAE winner with the Bruno Reis-ridden Energia Cintilante.

The filly took full advantage of the weight she received from her rivals to win in style.‬
