Godolphin Media Morning Quotes

DUBAI WORLD CUP, sponsored by Emirates Airline
MONTEROSSO: Mahmoud Al Zarooni: “He has a lot of speed and he will stay.”
POET’S VOICE: Saeed Bin Suroor: “We think this year he is a different horse. He is more relaxed than ever.”
Frankie Dettori: “He works on [the All-Weather] every morning so it shouldn’t be a problem for him. It was a good prep run last time from a very consistent Group One performer so we have to hope for a good run. The Dubai World Cup is the richest race in the world so it’s very competitive and there are a few horses there that can win it. Let’s hope it’s my name at the top of the list.”
Simon Crisford: “Poet’s Voice is our best chance on handicap ratings and what he has achieved to date. He has been there and done it. He was beating some of the best horses in the world at Ascot. But this
looks a stronger race than last year. It’s not an easy race to call because some of the horses have been running here already and they just might have an advantage over those horses that haven’t been out.
It might just be a little closer than the handicap ratings might suggest.”
PRINCE BISHOP: Saeed Bin Suroor: “He needed the race first time. He was only about 80 per cent fit. The other day he worked particularly well.”
Ahmed Ajtebi: “The draw is so important – especially in a Group One – because you have to make that first turn so quickly. But he has a good chance. He has won lots of races- not last time because he needed the race - but he can make up five lengths on the favourite because he needed the run and he has improved after the race. There is lots of pace in the race itself which should make it the right trip for him.”
DUBAI SHEEMA CLASSIC
CALVADOS BLUES: Ahmed Ajtebi: “The last two times he has won and then finished second. He never does wrong. He was close to Monterosso and he is going for the Dubai World Cup. He will like the surface, the fast ground, so everything is right. It’s an open race and I hope he will be close.”
REWILDING: Mahmoud Al Zarooni;. “He likes to run fresh and he has not run for a long time so I think he will run well.”
Frankie Dettori: “He’s a lovely horse and runs very well fresh so I’m hoping for a good run.”
DUBAI DUTY FREE, sponsored by Dubai Duty Free
DEBUSSY: Ahmed Ajtebi: “We tried him on the Tapeta last time because I think the plan was to go to the World Cup with him, but he was so keen and hanging to the outside. Now he is back to his trip, back to the grass. The Duty Free looks a strong race.”
MENDIP: Frankie Dettori: “He’s got lots of ability and if he runs the same on grass that he runs on Tapeta he’ll have a great chance. But I think the horse that will run a huge race is Presvis, who loves this course.”
DUBAI GOLDEN SHAHEEN, sponsored by Gulf News
CHARLIE’S MOMENT: Frankie Dettori: “I’ve got an outsider’s chance because he’s got a good draw. But Rocket Man will be very hard to beat.”
UAE DERBY, sponsored by The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group
INTROVERT: Ahmed Ajtebi: “I won on him last time when we tried a different trip. He didn’t run very [well] on the surface once, but that was [1400m] so maybe it wasn’t his trip. Maybe he’s a mile horse and the 1900m might be too much, but he has a nice draw and that can help him.”
KHAWLAH: Simon Crisford: “She is well and we are hopeful, but everything did work in her favour last time. She sat in the box seat and got the run of the race.”
XIN XU LIN: Simon Crisford: “He’s a nice horse – a free-running type – and he comes with a big reputation, but he has got to go and prove it now. I can’t tell you he is a good thing and I just want to see him do it on the track.”
Frankie Dettori: “I couldn’t do the weight on Khawlah anyway, and I’ve heard this new horse we’ve got from Brazil has been going really well so I’m looking forward to riding him.”
GODOLPHIN MILE, sponsored by Etisalat
RILEYSKEEPINGFAITH: Ahmed Ajtebi: “I rode him three times and it started to seem to me that he was not a sprinter. He was struggling from the start, I was pushing him all the way and he was always coming late. So we made a decision with the trainer and changed him to the Mile and then he won a Group Two nice and easy. He traveled well for me. I just hope he can give me the same feeling again.”
SKYSURFERS: Frankie Dettori: “He would have a great chance but he’s so badly drawn. Drawn 13 of 14 is going to injure his chances. He has got to travel further than just about everything else. It’s going to be very difficult.”
