Presvis Primed for Dubai Duty Free

Dubai, UAE, March 21, 2011 - Presvis will bid to give Luca Cumani a first winner on Dubai World Cup night this Saturday after completing his preparation for the Dubai Duty Free at Meydan this morning.

The Italian-born trainer has enjoyed success around the world with the likes of Falbrav landing the 2003 Hong Kong Cup, Alkaased the 2005 Japan Cup and Presvis the Audemars Piguet QE II Cup two years ago.

Presvis himself has tasted victory in Dubai on numerous occasions but his hold-up style of running often makes him vulnerable and those tactics saw him finish just 11th in last year’s Dubai Duty Free.

The seven-year-old worked around the Turf track at Meydan this morning under big-race jockey Ryan Moore and Cumani was satisfied with the 1400m gallop.

He said: “That was Presvis’ final workout ahead of Saturday’s race and I was perfectly happy with the way things went.”

Presvis had two starts in Dubai last year before his run under Christophe Lemaire on Dubai World Cup night and the son of Sakhee has been given a similar preparation this term.

After winning by over four lengths in the Group Two Al Rashidiya in January, he was beaten into third in a bobbing finish by Wigmore Hall and Poet’s Voice in the Jebel Hatta three weeks ago.

“He is a year older now and it is hard to say if he is still as good as he was but I have been happy with his two runs to date this year,” Cumani continued. “Obviously I would have liked to have won last time out but he ran very well and it looked like a good race.

“The draw on Saturday is irrelevant to him as he is going to be last out of the stalls but I hope, with luck in running, that he will have every chance.”

Ryan Moore has steered Presvis to his last six wins, including four in Dubai, and he will again be in the plate this weekend ahead of his bid to repeat his 2009 success in Hong Kong’s Audemars Piguet QE II Cup.

“If everything goes according to plan he will go on to Hong Kong for the AP QE II and to Singapore after that,” Cumani added.
