Knife cuts though finish line for Ruler of Sharjah handicap

It was the fourth and final meeting of the season at Sharjah on Saturday afternoon and their main race of the campaign, the Ruler of Sharjah`s Handicap, over 1700m, was won by Knife who made virtually all under Jesus Rosales for trainer Tony Manuel who said: "We know he likes it around here and this race has been his target for a long time."

Jockey Royston Ffrench was in double form and actually landed two of the first three races; the opening 1200m maiden went his way on RS Fancy Dancer for trainer Saifaldin Deeb before he followed up on Pirate`s Song, for trainer Ali Rashid Al Raihe, for whom he is stable jockey, in the 1200m handicap, the first of two Thoroughbred races on the seven race card.

The second Thoroughbred race, a 2000m handicap, was won by impressively by Graymalkin under Xavier Ziani who said: "He had a couple of good runs at Jebel Ali but has really relished this surface."

Doug Watson trains Fantasique Mhf who maintained his unbeaten Sharjah record when landing the Sharjah Marathon, over 2700m, under Richard Hills.

Wayne Smith was never far off the pace on the Adam Aghbash-trained Barolo who won the 1200m handicap to continue the jockey`s great run of form, while the concluding 1700m maiden was won by the Manuel-trained Al Garhoud under Antioco Murgia to complete a double for the trainer.
