| A shock, not really as Well Armed destroyed
the field in this the last race at Nad Al Sheba before it is
demolished to prepare for the Meydan Racecourse next year, as
the favourites were well down the field and the expected match
between Asiatic Boy and Albertus Maximus did not materialise.
Trainer Eoin Harty has always stated that Well Armed was being
prepared for the Dubai World Cup and he had a winning chance,
last year he was third in this race behind Curlin and Asiatic
Boy and as many have said there was no Curlin here for this
race. Well Armed ridden by Aaron Gryder made all the running
and when into the straight he just went clear and the field
had no answer to the winner who powered home by 14 lengths in
2.01.01, and Gloira De Campeao ran a massive race in second
for Jorge Leme and trainer Pascal Bary whose record of second
places in the UAE is second to none. Saudi Arabia had a big
result with Neil Bruss training Paris Perfect and Muller who
were 3rd and 4th ridden by Bernard Faydherbe and Weichong Marwing.
Owners WinStar Farm LLC and Eoin Harty were delighted by this
result and the year long plan to win this race had paid off
big time. |
